Step aside slime, these ASMR soap videos are the newest trend on the internet

This post is part of Hard Refresh, a soothing weekly column where we try to cleanse your brain of whatever terrible thing you just witnessed on Twitter.

The internet can be a stressful place, but if you know where to look it can also provide a much-needed sense of relief.

For example, after a long day of screaming at Twitter, fielding push notification from Donald Trump, and fending off trolls, I occasionally enjoy sitting back, relaxing, and watching videos of hot knives melting stuff.

It may sound strange. It may sound devious and even slightly concerning. But trust me, it’s harmless and soothing AF. You know what? Here, let me just show you…

Where do the locals go in Istanbul?

Image: pixabay

Istanbul has a special place in human history, sitting metaphorically and physically between the East and West. At one point it was the capital city of both the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, and the key to trade and cultural dominance. Once called Constantinople, today Istanbul offers a glimpse into ancient history and modern sensibilities. Famous for its mix of ancient mosques and Cathedrals, textiles, and food, travellers can get lost in history or seek out experiences unique to the Middle Eastern-European vibe.

We’ve rounded up the best places to see in Istanbul that you won’t find in a travel guide.

Image: Getty Images/Hero Images/mashable composite

Weed and yoga might just be a match made in heaven. But despite pot’s legal status in Denver, “ganja yoga” isn’t permitted. Well, unless you get stoned yourself and then go to a yoga class. But maybe there’s another option on the way…

Owners of the Utopia All Natural Wellness Spa and Lounge submitted a social consumption application on Wednesday to the city of Denver in hopes of becoming the first “fully licensed, state-legal cannabis spa.” Which means you’ll be able to get baked and relax on the premises.

If approved, Utopia will offer patrons “cannabis infused massages, ganja yoga, and other cannabis-friendly activities to patrons 21 and older, ...

Business witches of Instagram take sorcery to a new level

Image: ambar del moral/mashable

Katie Karpetz is a business witch.

No, really. Karpetz, a Canadian who identifies as a bog witch because of her unruly hair, is literally in the business of selling products marketed specifically for other witches.

She sells everything from vintage amethyst tower wands designed to soothe insomnia, to custom-made “witch bottles” whose recipes are top secret. For the uninitiated, a witch bottle acts as a “recharging” agent for different parts of the psyche.

Her preferred medium for displaying and advertising her inventory? Her Instagram account, @WitcheryWay.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson can smell what Elizabeth Warren is cooking … and he likes it.

On Friday afternoon, the movie star tweeted this after it was revealed that the Democratic senator from Massachusetts was a big fan of the HBO show Ballers, which is basically Entourage but with sports agents:

In a segment for Full Frontal, Warren sat down with host Samantha Bee, where it was revealed the senator had a huge crush on The Rockwhich, I mean, who doesn’t.

But stranger was her apparent love of Ball...

Traditional Lasagna Is Good, But These Handheld Poppers Are Arguably Better

I would eat pasta for every meal if I could also maintain a normal weight. Alas, this is just a pipe dream.

One of my favorite Italian dishes is definitely lasagna. And while I’ve never been adventurous enough to make it in my own kitchen, I may actually give it a whirl in this reincarnation of the complex meal.

Not only do these lasagna poppers look absolutely delicious, they seem so much easier to make than a full pan of the savory dish. If you’re looking for a new snack to try for your next party, these should be on your list:

Here’s how to make these at home:

Ingredients:

  • Canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup of minced onion
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups of marinara sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces of mozzarella
  • 4 sheets of ravioli
  • 1 cup of flour
  • Egg wash
  • 1 c...
